Michael Rutledge • U.S. History, world history

Michael W. Rutledge holds two undergraduate degrees in history from Cameron University, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Michigan. He is currently a candidate for a Master of Arts in history from Eastern Michigan University. His thesis topic concerns the Fenian movement in America and the formation of the Irish Republican Army. 

 

Mr. Rutledge graduated from both Cameron and Eastern Michigan Universities Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA, has presented several papers on his thesis topic before academic and social organizations and has had a book review published in The Michigan Historical Review.  He has also attended innumerable special training courses as a result of his military career.

 

Mr. Rutledge’s first career was with the United States Army, from which he retired after twenty two years of service in 2004, holding the rank of Master Sergeant. He served eight years in overseas assignments and held leadership and staff positions from the squad through the division level. He was decorated twenty three times in his career, is a member of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
